Frequently Asked Questions

What is Spinal Flow™?

Spinal Flow™ is a gentle, non-invasive modality that uses light touch on the sacrum and/or cranium to support the nervous system in moving out of chronic stress patterns.
This gentle contact sends a signal of safety to the brain, allowing the body to shift out of fight, flight, or freeze and into a more regulated state. When the nervous system feels safe, the body can begin restoring balance and communication — at its own pace. This work does not force change or “fix” the body. It simply creates the conditions that allow the body to do what it already knows how to do.

What happens during a Spinal Flow™ session?

You remain fully clothed and lie face down on a massage table. Follow-Up Sessions take place in a calm group room with up to three clients receiving a session at the same time. Kristy works gently with specific points on the sacrum and/or cranium as needed. Some people feel sensations such as warmth, movement, breath changes, or emotional release. Others feel very little during the session and notice shifts later. All responses are normal. There is no manipulation, cracking, or force involved.

What does the initial consultation include?

Before your first visit, you’ll complete an intake form, so Kristy can review your medical history and understand where you are currently.
During your consultation, Kristy will:
  • Review your intake information
  • Conduct gentle assessments
  • Talk with you about your goals
  • Explain how Spinal Flow™ works and what to expect
Your consultation and private first session happen on the same day.

How long is a session?

  • Consultation + first session: approximately 50–60 minutes
  • Follow-up sessions: approximately 30 minutes
The work is intentionally paced to support nervous system regulation without overwhelm.

How often should I come in?

Frequency is determined after your initial assessment and is tailored to your body and goals. For many people, a common starting rhythm is 2–3 sessions per week for 12 sessions, followed by a reassessment. Some people continue consistently, while others pause after the initial series. Both are respected. This is not a one-size-fits-all approach.

What is the Starter Package?

The Starter Package includes:
  • An initial consultation
  • Your first private Spinal Flow™ session
  • Two follow-up sessions in the group room
Cost: $195
Timing: Consultation + first session the same day (50–60 minutes); follow-ups are 30 minutes each.
This package allows your body to experience the work and determine next steps without pressure.

Does insurance cover Spinal Flow™?

Insurance does not cover this modality. However, some clients have successfully used their Health Savings Account (HSA) to pay for sessions. You’re welcome to check with your provider.

Is this work safe if I have medical conditions?

Spinal Flow™ does not diagnose, treat, or claim to cure medical conditions. It is offered as supportive care focused on nervous system regulation. Many clients continue working with their medical providers alongside Spinal Flow™. If you have specific concerns, we can discuss them during your consultation.

Why are sessions offered in a small group setting?

Follow-Up Sessions are intentionally offered in a small group room with up to three people to support nervous system regulation, not to increase volume. Spinal Flow™ works best in an environment that feels calm, contained, and steady. A small group setting allows the space itself to remain regulated and grounded, which supports each individual body’s ability to settle. This is not a shared or interactive experience. You are not working with other people — you are simply receiving your own session in the same quiet room.

Is there energy exchange between people in the room?

No. There is no energy exchange between clients. Spinal Flow™ is a physical, nervous-system-led modality. The work is specific to your body and your nervous system. I am not working with energy, and there is no absorption, transfer, or exchange between people in the room. Each person remains fully in their own process.

If there are multiple people in the room, why doesn’t that lower the investment or cost?

The investment in a session reflects the practitioner’s time, training, and the level of focused, regulated attention required, not the number of people in the room.
Even in a group setting, each client receives:
  • Individual assessment
  • Individual hands-on care
  • Individual nervous system support
There is no reduction in care, attention, or responsibility.
The group room is not about efficiency — it is about maintaining a calm, supportive environment without overstimulation.

Why not work one-on-one instead?

Some people assume one-on-one is always better, but for nervous system regulation, less stimulation can be more supportive. A small, quiet group room often feels safer and more settling than an intense one-on-one environment for bodies that have been in long-term stress. The space remains neutral, grounded, and steady — without pressure to perform, talk, or engage. If you have questions or concerns, we’ll talk them through during your consultation.

Who is this work for?

This work is for people who feel overwhelmed, tense, or “off” in their body — often without a clear explanation — and are open to a gradual, body-led process.
It is especially supportive for those who have been in long-term stress patterns and are ready to allow their nervous system to settle rather than pushing for quick fixes. Kristy has worked with babies as young as three months old to adults in their 80s.

Do you have testimonials or examples of client experiences?

Yes. Clients often share experiences such as feeling calmer, breathing more fully, standing taller, thinking more clearly, or noticing subtle but meaningful changes over time.
